This is Jeremy who runs the safety boat - he’s a legend! He even put pink benches onboard for me to sit on yesterday, so now I am shooting in comfort.
I spend about half the day hanging out on the boat shooting from the channel. It is way mellower than shooting Teahupo’o and these guys like to take it easy so normally we just anchor in the channel and that’s my angle. Luckily this works ok because it is a point- break so you can usually shoot everything from the take off to the inside barrel section without having to move.
Sunday is feast day in Tahiti (it seems like everyday is but for some reason Sunday’s the big one) so our host family took us to their patisserie down the street where we were treated to a bacon and egg breakfast with freshly baked croissants, baguettes, coffee and orange juice. It was epic!
When I got on the boat the boys had their cooler full of Tahitian specialities like raw oyster marinated in coconut, which was pretty good too especially after my room mate who weighs about 300kg’s was already halfway through my lunch when I got onboard.
We washed down the day with a couple of Hinanos (local beer) at the hotel down the road and then returned home to a sashimi and grilled tuna dinner!
It doesn’t get much better than this☺
